Politics in science is not necessarily the same as Government politics like Democrat vs Republican, etc. IMHO, it has a lot more to do with how the more traditional and orthodox scientists deal with new ideas and theories...

For example, uniformatism (or a more linear view of reality) still continues to be the more politically correct way of looking at the science world when more and more evidence now clearly suggests that catastrophism is how Nature actually works...

This is just one example of the politics of science vs. the politics or Government...
