But a BETTER action..... as opposed to sticking in the Christian creation story, would have been to stick in a small bit of artwork (modern pop culture, or kitzch) depicting Noah's Ark with a pair of elephants among the various critters.

That way you DON'T give the christians several orders of magnitude higher credence/exposure (as they in fact did by this decision), AND you're carefully restricting them to a cultural DEPICTION.
