Exactly, Katherine! This Friday, the children at my son's school will be dressing in traditional attire (including non-native for other cultures--not dressing my son up in norwegian traditional though--he'd get beat up!). My inlaws have a children's concha belt that has been used, though, for my husband, his two brothers, a couple cousins and my son for these traditional dress up days. The actual leather belt for the concha belt has never been replaced...because it's never needed replacing. How many children's belts last 25 years and through 6 children? Definitely says something, imo.
That's funny about Jenny not believing the dancers were actual Indians. Tell her that out here, the majority of young Navajo dress like hip hoppers and the turquoise is reserved usually for their moms and grandmothers...lol
