Now I know what to try next time I'm out that way!

Eh, what my mother used to make had the meat INSIDE the fry bread (make a ball of the dough, push a spoonful of shredded meat.... she usually used ground beef.... into the center of the ball & seal it up. Then flatten that out to pancake size.... the meat will show through in places but this doesn't hurt anything. Fry, and then eat. They're even good cold. They're especially good with a bit of soy sauce to dip them in. I've also had them with cheese, either by adding a bit of shredded cheese & folding it over, or by placing cheese on top & microwaving it, or by sprinking shredded cheese on it while you're cooking the second side, especially if you have a lid on the fryingpan).)

Eh, I'd honestly argue that sodas & alcohol & high sugar & no exercise contribute FAR more to obesity & diabetes than frybread does.

You can eat all the frybread you want.... IF you're willing to work off the calories.
