Some Kokopelli items are made by native craftsmen but these are usually kachinas, sandpaintings, paintings and jewelry. I can't honestly say whether or not the more commercial items are made by Native crafters. Considering how prolific the sales of merchandise featuring Kokopelli is in the SW, I'm doubting that they are making these. I've seen everything from windchimes, doormats, table linens, napkin holders, cabinet pulls, bed linens--the list goes on and on. To be honest, I've never heard any native complain to me about it. When I do ask my husband about this kind of thing, he just laughs, shrugs and pretty much says "what can you do?". He feels that the various tribe's beliefs have been intruded on so much that to complain is rather pointless anymore.
