Absolutely, here's a quote from one of my books:

"Thais are unable to produce an 'r' sound at the beginning of a word, and substitute an 'l' instead."

As well as trying to learn Thai I also enjoy trying to teach Thew English. He goes through exactly the same frustrations as I do because English is just as difficult from his point of view.
