Both wars were begun with the express purpose of making the world safe by spreading freedom and limiting the harmful capacity of tyranical dictators.

The reasons for going to war were the same, and the actual entry of the USA into WWII was even less popular than the battle in Iraq (88% of Americans disapproved of entry into the European theatre).


The parallels are far greater than the differences... except the dates.
