I'm light sensitive, too, so I tend to appreciate dim quarters but I still torture myself by opening up blinds and curtains for light. I figure my kids shouldn't be vampires too, lol.

We love cherry as well. Just about every piece of furniture we own is cherry, except in the kids' rooms. There we have color fun. Thankfully, my hubby and I are around the same height so we don't have to worry about countertop levels. I've noticed that many older countertops are way to low for either of us though, lol.

Actually, most of what we're going to need can be done by the builder itself so hubby isn't going to be doing too much wiring work. He's glad about that because he will be doing the network and security systems for the his work's new office building that will be finished about the same time as our home (and only two blocks away! )
