Here in Atlanta (33 degrees North latititude) I go by what my cherry tree says. When the buds begin to show color and to break open it's New Year. But they haven't done so yet, even though this annual event usually coincides for my tree and me with Chinese New Year.

Whatever the calendar or the moon may say this year my cherry tree says differently.

And so do the tourists, apparently, who would normally throng Bourbon Street for Mardi Gras. Business is bad there because, commentators say, Easter will come early this time around. I'm not at all clear why this would affect attendance at an orgy, but it seems to be so... to the chagrin of business owners and politicians in New Orleans.
