I started this thread back in 2006, anticipating then that 2012 would become a big deal. Now the year has actually arrived, so it may be worthwhile to have a look back at how press on the issue has evolved (or not). Below is a list of the online articles for which I've been interviewed on the 2012 mania. I can't guarantee that all of the links are still active, but it still makes for an interesting retrospective.
As for losing hope, I haven't yet lost mine. I actually hope that the "transformation of consciousness" in 2012 includes a greater sensitivity to media hype, ignorance, and gullibility with respect to pseudoarchaeology, pseudoscience, and other failures of good critical thinking and basic knowledge of how science actually works. If I repeat the message often enough, maybe people will eventually grasp it. We'll see...
