The entrance is from the bottom of celestial sky... the north. The goal was for the soul of the King to go to the top... the South. If he wasn't worthy, then there was a soul-exit to the bottom... the North.

Why would they enter from ANY other side BUT the north? The only thing leaving the building, heading TOWARD Osiris, would be the soul of the King, and that would need a symbolic door that aimed SOUTH.

Just one point. My opinion. Means nothing.
