<HTML>Maybe we have here a definition problem. In Germany we divite between "Ton" = clay and "Tonminerale". Because in quiet regions of the sea some non-calcite sedimentation can occur which is "something like" clay it's called "Tonminerale". But this is not the river sediment "Clay" (=Ton).
I don't know if this is differentiated in English.
Clay = Ton in German definitively meand the river sediment, and Kaolin is a mineral formed by the erosion and sedimentation of field spar rich stones in rivers.
