<HTML>Avry, Memphis was the capital city of Egypt during the Old Kingdom. People lived in other areas, suburbs if you will, but a large portion of Egyptians from Lower Egypt would have lived in Memphis or the Memphite region.

Tomb artisans that worked at Saqqara probably lived in Memphis. The two sites are very close to each other. Unlike Giza and other sites, I don't believe worker villages have been discovered at Saqqara.</HTML>
