If you're interested in drawing circles, etc around Giza then you ought to look at John Legon's work and there's several similar things linked from Ian Lawton's site. Where did you get the impression I had the view that the AEs had a "close enough is good enough attitude". My reason for posting that Petrie measured a mean spacing of 250.2 cubits and expressing that as a percentage difference from a (reasonably conjectured) intention of 250 cubits was to demonstrate the sort of accuracy they were capable of and to give an indication of the sort of "match" that should have been possible had they intended to "represent" Orion's Belt at Giza. You can get other percentage "errors" from the side lengths of, for example, the GP. Stephen Tonkin has posted on the astronomical "accuracies" that are possible without (even reasonably) sophisticated astronomical eqipment.
