Hi Hermione.
As you may know I studied this in depth in 1999 and 2000 even writing to The Smithsonian.
Here again is my website from which every new webpage was copied. [

The newspaper article was never proven to be a fake and only got this label because the alleged treasure was never found. Strangely The Smithsonian denied knowing who Kincaid was but I trust these comments as far as I can throw them. They tried to suggest it was an April Fool's joke but couldn't explain why is was published in the Phoenix Gazette dated Monday April 5th, 1909 as opposed to Thursday April 1st. Maybe the paper was only published on Mondays, I will have to check that out. Well I checked and The University of Arizona library has The Phoenix Gazette on microfilm and I have asked if they could find the time to see if a paper was published on Thursday April 1st, 1909.
The Smithsonian were unable to explain adequately why all the mountain peaks in that area of the Grand Canyon had Egyptian names claiming it was because the early Smithsonian surveyors liked Egypt and as I have mentioned the area is now out of bounds and they (The Smithsonian) conveniently forgot to address my question regarding caves in the area and the fact that these caves were part of the out of bounds.
And on a slightly different but still historical tangent I don't know how many have stuck with "The Curse of Oak Island" but this season they have all but proved The Portuguese visited the island in the mid to late 15th century (1450 - 1498) [ so long Columbus.] Also a stone road has been found that is also an exact duplicate of one in Portugal dating the the 15th century. I think this proves that even at this early date it was all still so political and discoveries in The New World were a closely guarded secret. Also they have found a well that has been carbon dated from debris found at the bottom of the well under several feet of muck to be from 1150 to 1248 AD . Not to mention a Roman coin which has been dated using a sophisticated spectrum analyzer to ... 300 BC ! And just for good measure they have discovered two artifacts (a piece of "jewellery" and an axe head) that may date to The Vikings of around 1050 to 1100 AD
It would seem that more than a few history books may have to be rewritten.
