Possibly the astronomical alignments at the winter solstice - the solstice marking the birth of the new sun and new year - had some connection with the placement of the human remains there; perhaps this particular solstitial alignment was thought to have some form of revivifying force. However,a great deal more work would need to be done at Amapa and elsewhere before any conclusion could be reached on this.
