Hypotheses and theories of all sorts are continually being suggested, considered and discussed; tried and tested - and sometimes abandoned or altered when other evidence comes to light.
In this case, various ideas might now have to be reconsidered or adjusted while the field assimilates any new evidence, possibly reassessing the work of experimental archaeologists like Heyerdah in the light of that evidence.
I don't see the concept of "humiliation" (which I presume is what you meant) is really relevant here.
