The melting point of iron is 1,538 degrees Centigrade. That's just to get it to melt. After that it takes even more energy to form it, machine it, ship etc. So far the only way to get electricity is through coal, oil, or hydroelectric. Electricity from solar power is coming online slowly but so far its limited to electric vehicles which is the only place, so far, that it can make a profit. It will be decades before it works it's way into the steel industry.
