Thank you for the information concerning the "Fred (Imhotep) vs Dunn" debate. Fred gives an explanation for the limestone disaggregation method which seems to say that it is not only the water, but the additional chemical reaction that "softens" the limestone for easy disaggregation. Do I understand that correctly? Since I once worked with a chemical that could be mixed into heavy clay soils and would eventually chemically react in a way as to "destroy" the tight bonding of the clay, I can accept the possibility of a similar concept. However, what would be the explanation when one begins to enter the world of granite? Is there a current theory on how the granite is disaggregated, or is there a totally different method involved for granite? Thanks for any comments.
