One thing I will mention regarding this effort is it may actually serve to integrate Bauval's vision with at least some of the Orthodox position (each side may gain and lose a little on its more extreme ends).
If the Mortuary Temple's are the basis of the alignment, only these structures need have been part of an overall plan. Though I personally doubt this scenario, it is true that the Pyramids might then have been added latter and their sizes (and other features) dictated by the site's geology or the state's resources (there's no need to compare relative brightness with pyramid size etc.).
While I personally accept the stellar significance of the pyramids proper, my only interest here is to establish that the alignment of the Mortuary Temples is an exact angular and distance match for the three belt stars.
I am not arguing in favour of 10,500BCE or any other date. Nor am I looking for proof of the LC.
I am hoping that if we can bring the search for the hypothetical "Giza ground plan" back to square one, we might find *some* common facts upon which we can agree.
It is my hope that the information I have brought to light will at least lead us all to concur that there is an uncanny matchup between Orion and the MT structures. The question then becomes, "is it a coincidence?"
I am preparing a paper on this matter. Its not easy for me though as I know next to nothing about Egypt.
