Of course.
A couple of the Rennes-le-Chateau sites could not understand how it is possible to date an unsigned painting. It's a process of elimination. The painting is oil, so it has to be post 1400, which is when oil came into wide use. Now we know it can't be earlier. Then we look at composition. Our artist has an imperfect understanding of perspective, which means that while he's read Brunelleschi, he hasn't quite got the hang of it. Brunelleschi's work on perspective was published in the 1440s and it took a while to be disseminated. It's still a useful book, and I've included a link that may help you to see why there's so much geometry in the art.

So now we know it has to be post 1450, allowing for time for the artist to get his hands on it.
Now we look at internal clues. We know that round & square toed shoes came into fashion in the early 1500s. Since none of the shoes have the distinctive long points of the poulaines, we know we must be @ 1500. Looking at the 'contemporary' men, we see that they are fashionable for 1520-1540. That gives us the final timeframe of 1515-1550, allowing for regional & provincial variations.
This was fun! Got any more for me??
