Unfortunately; the story is probably very accurate.
The Indian sub-continent has one of the oldest civilizations but that history has been one of Religious, Political, and class divisions.

This has resulted in an extremely class conscious society which began the new age political fragmentation decades before it showed up in Yugoslavia.

To comprehend that they wish historical fact to only support their versions thereof, and ensure no one rocks the boat by totally controlling access to sites, is an easy step.
