<HTML>Hi jameske,
I have to disagree totally on this one... we have accepted a social system whose economic system involves a patent process. As long as Anthony follows the proper legal channels for getting the patent, it is totally unfair to call that morally wrong (in my humble opinion). Ed had his chance... he didn't take it... nor did he let anyone else in on his discovery! Think of all the possible good that the world "might" have already derived from his discovery had he gone ahead and patented it himself (speculative statement, I realize, but appropriate to the logic I think). Put in another perspective... what if both you and I come up with ideas (identical, even though we don't know it) for a better mousetrap. Should you be faulted if I choose never to let anyone know about my idea, but you pursue a patent on yours? How you derived your comment to Anthony is probably intricately rooted in deep philisophical reasoning on the subject... I probably won't follow it, but I don't mind trying!!! :-)
