Ah yes, I just thought, I haven't been to Baalbek - it's on my list however - so I haven't tried to move them.
But I did once have a temporary job in England in which one man (who was very experienced - I had no idea what we were doing) and I moved a 200 ton piece of steel machinary several hundred feet, loaded it on a truckbed(okay, lorry) in Bristal, drove to London and unloaded it.
We (okay, basicaly he) just used very small - I could lift them myself - hydralic jacks and several steel skateboard like things with multiple wheels - I don't remember what they were called. No giant cranes or anything. Before I actually did this thing (okay, mostly watched and got in the way) I won't have believed it possible. And this was 40 years ago, I have no idea what might be possible today.
The point is experimental achaeology: get out there and do it yourself. The Time Team kind of thing is so great and so right on. Just do it. Enough of all this armchair *#+*#
