These commentators typically neglect the inscriptional context of the royal names.

For the Khufu cartouche, we have xwfw smrw (apr). Similar names have been recorded of crews of Menkaure, Niuserre and possibly Baka. Smr otherwise indicates a courtier: there seems to be a theme in which the names of the crews have been chosen to suggest that work on the pyramid is a high-status activity.

(Just rehearsing the arguments.)

Note below that Schoch does add a valuable geological point contra the forgery theory.
