I suppose the obvious question is "does it work?"

If the arch. in question just says "there's a building around here somewhere" I'd be pretty unimpressed. However, if they were to say "there's a small bakery here with a red terracotta floor, two ovens and some graffiti saying "Kilroyus was here" I'd be much more impressed!

With regard to whether the west is going insane - I'm not sure that a society CAN go insane. Insanity is generally defined by society; If society's norms change then so does insanity.
