<HTML>Chris, let me state why I am so reluctant to accept what I call
"revolutionary technologies" like sonic resonance (or magnetic),
advanced machining techniques and so on. There are many arguments
put forward for their existence just like they are many arguments for Extra Sensory Perception, ET, the Near Death Experiences or existence of ghosts and spitits. Now I consider myself an open minded person but to accept any of the above would require a fundamental rethinking of the basis on which our perception of reality is based. Now I know that those perceptions are not immutable and change over time with developments of science and technology. But with science and technology I (assuming the necessary knowledge) can look inside the "black box" and see how things work and why. I can touch it, I can try it and I can see how it works. So even if disbeliving at first I am presented with irrefutable evidence that
the process or mechanism works as advertised. If I would be a terminally suspicious person I can still claim my doubts but it would puts me into a decisive minority whose opinions while entertaining do not count for much.
And this is my problem with SR, AM, ESP and others to go to the trauma of revising my view of the reality I need firm and irrefutable proof that those things exist. It is not enough for me that I am being told that they do, I have to SEE with my own eyes not only that they work but also how.
So if I am a skeptic it is not a "knee jerk" reaction on my part but a need
to see evidence which is strong enough to disspell my doubts and convince me that there is a very good reason for me to change my opinion.
