I prefer not to go down the path of subdividing triangles to fit the not so major points.
Somehow I don't think the Ancient Architect was overseeing a complete construction site, but more likely that different generations were involved over a period of time, and adherence to the simple positioning plan was possibly all that the later "subcontractors" could do. Of course each individual pyramid then had its own private plan and the starting point only meeting the original design.
Does this sound too much like present day thinking?
