Whilst working on diagrams for author Andrew Collins and his books on the Giza plateau, I noticed some simple but remarkable relationships between the monuments and the land. I would welcome opinions as to whether it is meaningful or nonsense!
Using Petrie's measurements, I drew a line from G1 to G3 and called this one side of an equilateral triangle. Completing the triangle to the SE caused the third corner to fall on the hill Gebel Ghibli.
This seemed to be an ideal point from which to survey the landscape, I called it the Datum point and imagined the Ancient Architect standing there to lay out his grand plan.
From the datum point a line drawn due North passes through the face/paws of the Sphinx and at twice this distance meets an E-W line from the peak of G1. This I call the Datum line.
Now a 3-4-5 triangle may be constructed using the Datum point and the peak of G2 for the hypotenuse and one side along the datum line.
From these basic observations other surprising points emerge, but will leave matters at this point for the moment. I would attach a diagram if I knew how to add it to this posting.
