The drawing below is the cross sectional measures of Khufu's Descending passage. The inch dimensions are the average of all that Petrie recorded from the entrance to the base.

Knowing that the passage cuts through rock for a considerable distance, it is safe to assume the masons attempting to adhere to a width of 2.0 Royal cubits (approximately 41.3 inches).
that being true...IOW...setting the base to 2 Royal cubits...then why the oddity in height?
