The red crown of Egypt is, I believe, the carbonated water
which flows early in the season when the water is rich in
siderite from the sandstone which caps much of the aquifer.

It's difficult to find much substantiation for any type of
emetic which might be in this sandstone. But I may well have
just been looking in the wrong place. It appears that grey-
wacke sandstone often has copper sulfate as part of its bind-
er and this is a powerful emetic (like epicac it induces vom-
iting). There's quite a bit about this red crown in the PT
and they even had a feast of the red clothes.
