It's also in the Red Pyramid, of course.

It would seem quite possible that there were two means of accomplishing
the same thing as the groove &/ or indentation. I think the best guess
is that these were used to keep loads being pulled straight up the side
of the pyramid running true. Pyramids without grooves and/ or indenta-
tions might have simply been built during times that wood was more read-
ily available so tracks were made instead.

If it were an artefact of the construction technique it becomes more diff-
icult to explain why they weren't consistent since it's obvious that the
great pyramids represent a steady improvement in technology and technique.

These indentations are wholly inconsistent with any possible (or impossibe)
ramp configuration other than shallow ramps on all four sides. But since
these indentations don't appear on all great pyramids and these show an ev-
olution of technology then it follows they were not related to shallow ramps
on all four sides either.
