Hello Don,

You write, ‘And you Greg and you MJ had best learn geometry because that is what was used.’

What is at issue here is the level of geometry known to and utilised by the pyramid builders.
In my considered opinion, the geometry used in the planning of Khufu’s pyramid was very simple and very basic, in so far as the architect only used squares, rectangles and right-angled triangles to complete his plan.
Because of the total lack of substantive evidence to the contrary, I currently hold (none of my views are set in stone) that that the pyramid builders did not produce or calculate gradients/angles in degrees.
In my view, the architects of the pyramids used the seked (usually expressed as 1 royal cubit rise to X palms run) for the establishment of the slope of a pyramid’s faces, but used the simple rise-to-run ratio for the gradient of a sloping passage.*

You write, ‘I have asked this question before but it always falls on deaf ears. Please you who fancy themselves Don Quixote, knowing not at all what the story is about, please give your expertise on why "The King's Chamber" and "Queen's Chamber" are where they are.’

At the risk of appearing flippant, these chambers are where they are because that is where Khufu and or his architect wanted them to be.
Question is: why did they want them there?
To be perfectly honest, I haven’t the faintest idea!
I hypothesise that the Egyptian pyramids of the 4th, 5th, 6th and possibly through to the 12th dynasty were designed and built as actual or symbolic tombs for their respective kings.
I further hypothesise that each pyramid-tomb of the 4th Dynasty was designed using a mixture of traditional template (entrance off centre, burial chamber placed westward, that sort of thing) and its owner’s (i.e. the king) individual taste (such as chambers high up inside the superstructure).
IMO, the mathematics/geometry of each design was very much secondary to the structure as a whole, and had no magical/spiritual significance to the Egyptians.

You write, ‘Again I laugh at you who know little or nothing about surveying and construction and design and architecture and refuse to speculate on what plans were first drawn up before construction began.’

Well, despite my school-boy arithmetic and geometry skills (which means they hover around the basic levels), complete lack of knowledge about any type of architecture, and painfully inadequate building skills, I have been able to reproduce the entire plan of Khufu’s pyramid (yes, I know it’s taken me thirty years, but that’s beside the point).

I wrote, ‘... The pyramids have burial chambers’

You respond, ‘Don's > Note: laughable as there is no proof they were burial chambers.) ‘

I continued, ‘-often complete with a sarcophagus. Whether they were solely tombs or served a second, or more, purpose is not yet clear. Whether or not the king in whose name the pyramid was built was actually interred in it is uncertain.’

You reply, ‘Don's Note: Well then for heaven's sake how can you dare call them burial chambers when you admit you have no proof the body ever was placed in them.’

Here we have the designing and building of a tomb which might not have been used as the final resting place of the person for whom it was intended.
Now, I don’t have a problem with the Egyptian pyramids being ostensively tombs, but then I am not an Egyptologist.
AFAIK, only one pyramid has been found with traces of an actual burial, and that might have been intrusive.
Which brings me to the simple fact that we cannot rule out the pyramids having been robbed in antiquity of all their funereal items.
To sum up, either a) the pyramids are tombs that have been robbed of their funereal contents or b) the pyramids are symbolic tombs and the persons they were designed and built for were interred elsewhere.

I wrote, ‘Be this as it may, the fact remains that the pyramids were predominately (physically and or spiritually) tombs for AE kings.’
Please note that I have since posted an amendment changing “(physically and or spiritually)” to “(actually and or symbolically)”.

You reply, ‘... Final note: Brilliant speculation at best.’

I don’t think so, Don.
All the evidence says that the Egyptian pyramids were tombs of some description.
If you believe this not to be so, then perhaps you could tell me/us what you believe them to have been.

MJ

*my findings are that when it came to sloping passages the builders were only concerned with their vertical heights and horizontal lengths; the sloping lengths were very much just the natural product of the other two dimensions.
