"Pharos means lighthouse in Greek"
-- Certainly Pharos was home of one of the wonders of the world... the Great Lighthouse.

My previous studies on the etymology of this word was that it had an egyptian root, with the same etymology as the term "Pharaoh". Perhaps my source(forgotten), was just speculating, though.

Do you have a source to the greek etymology of this term?
