You measured 23 units...total length of 98.7 feet = 1184.4 inches. Then you returned to the start location...another 1184.4 inches. Total distance is double of your statement.
The error remains the same but the % is halved.

You performed 23x2 measures = 46 measures.


Repeat with 44 units having equal length of 10Rc and all tied together! The result is...exactly what you intended it to be. It will be identical in any direction you choose and whenever you choose to do so...440Rc...no error.


Also:
Your comparing the error per unit inch is deceiving...you measured in 51.5 unit lengths.
Therefore the unit error is 0.03125/46 = 0.00068"/ measure. A human hair is, on average, 0.003" thick.

Still...the AE would have hired you in a flash...!

BTW...why a total length equal to 10xpi^2 feet?
