I also could not agree with all he wrote about the origins of Judaism, but he certainly presented a very good case, and his "The Invention of Religion", primarily about Exodus, is fascinating. Outside of his forays into Judaism though, we have lost a titan of Egyptology and the study of their religion. So now the "two giant pillars" of the modern understanding of AE religion are both gone, Erik Hornung passing two years ago.
