Can confirm that the case does not look like that in the Egyptian Museum. There's a walk-through of the museum (as it existed several years ago; this photo was taken before the new museum opened) you can see here: [

That museum also has a Thutmoses sphinx identified as being from a "cache" - so it MAY be Tutankhamun but may not be from his tomb but rather from a different area.
