I find it a tad difficult to believe that they would drag stones to that area to slide them down the pyramid. Falling stones (which would shatter when they hit bottom, I think) would end up all over the side of the pyramid, not tumbling to a center line and neatly sliding down from that.

I could be convinced otherwise but I do find it problematic.
