The problem would probably be in securing a grant to obtain such/additional information on a section of the Pyramid already known if imperfectly. To do that you'd have to take money and resources from x and y and those doing y and x might not like that.

Your best bet is to get a fringe or alt. source to fund such research but in general they tend to be on a cheap crusade the last few decades. The Egyptians themselves are concerned about tourist dollars and this subject doesn't sound particularly 'TS'. (Tourist sexy)
