I do think it's interesting that "36,000 BC" is the approximate time science suggests the first human might have arisen. Perhaps the pyramid builders considered this such a momentous event that it would be apparent exactly what "zep tepi" was. It was the time of the mutation that tied the speech center to higher brain functions and allowed complex language to arise.
If this is the case though it would seem to fall under the heading that we have it all wrong. It means that Bauval can be right but only in a left handed sort of way. But we'd still have to believe that this was so important to the great pyramid builders that they'd upend their entire culture for generations to commemorate the first human. The strength of complex language requires generations to have much affect.
