Once we got a translator it seems the police were concerned the ladies were photographing the Jewish building for nefarious reasons. Interestingly enough the translator who came to our aid was the Rabbi of the site. He spoke Arabic and had been born in Yemen a Mizrahi. He was delightful old guy. He called the Mayor of Budapest and got us released immediately and then gave the ladies a guided tour of his synagogue.
