I read this article again and was surprised to see something I missed before;
“Furthermore, the egyptians
said this lake drains underground into theLibyan Syrtis, and extends under the mountains above Memphis, having
an inland country on its west”
I guess I missed it because I didn't understand the end of the sentence and have a strong tendency to dismiss entire sentences that I can't parse.
Whatever it means though it might explain how a river can form with no outlet; Like Short River in Florida it simply goes underground. This allows flow and flow defines a river.
