Hi Graham,
Quote
The triangular spike is the meridian line (similar to the much taller and thinner spike on Senenmut's ceiling.)
The top of the Mooring Post is Thuban by Tawaret's right hand.
Meskhetui the bull is tethered to the Mooring Post.
It is difficult to unambiguously interpret the images and establish the correspondence, because different drawings depict details in a slightly different way.
For example, in the astronomical chart from the tomb of Senenmut, Meskhetiu is attached to the top of the triangular spike, and not to the Post in the Hippo's right hand, and the vertical line is the bisector of the triangle.
In the Pediamenopet's tomb Meskhetiu is not attached to either the spike or the hippo’s hand, but to a line, which in this case is not even straight.

Finally the stretched chord is vertical (not horizontal !) and links the two Ursas.
In my opinion, a stretched chord does not refer to the orientation procedure, but to how the ancient Egyptians imagined the structure of the northern sky. (For example, this chord in their opinion could hold the constellations in place, because the inscription above the head of the person holding it (s3q with the determinative of a crocodile; see I5 Gardiner's sign) is translated as “collect”, “gather together”).
