Interesting. A pavement wouldn't have to support much weight of the casing stone.
I'm also struck by the comment that it is hot inside the Bent Pyramid (at least at times). I'm surprised there's sufficient air flow to allow it to heat up in the long summers. I have heard reports that there is an unknown source of air movement and believe it would be an interesting study to determine its sources using barometric pressure recording devices.
