I think I misunderstood what Cladking was saying. I agree there is a central groove that runs from apex down but I thought he was saying there are other smaller vertical grooves on either side of the central grooves. My bad!

As for the shadow effect, with an inward angle of only about ½ degree and the suns angular diameter of about ½ degree then IMO this effect would only show up on or within 1 day of the Equinoxes. When the casing was in place the contrast between light and shadow on polished white limestone would be outstanding. That is if the casing had the indents! What we see now on the broken core stones would be less effective especially at a closer distance so no one may have noticed the effect. Keep in mind they would need to be there at the right time to see the effect and need to be looking for it.

If not for that pilot being at the right place at the right time then maybe the shadow effect would still be unknown. If someone had the resources they could video from a hot air balloon at a distance before on and after the EQ and see if the effect comes and goes. I’m also wondering if at exactly mid day on the winter solstice this effect might show up on the east and west sides of the GP also at the summer solstice on the north side.

I don’t see any need for the indents as a structural factor so no reason to see them on any other pyramids. I’m sure they could build a pyramid without the indents and it would stand the test of time just fine.
