HD: "For construction at the Great Primeval Mound a contraption was employed:
[nwt-vtp] Speedy of construction, the sanctuary within it -Great Seat, by name."
A "contraption" ??????
'Speedy of Construction' (sin nHp), was the name of the outer 300 x 400 cubit enclosure. The sanctuary within an inner 110 x 240 cubit enclosure, was called the 'Great Seat' (st-wrt) - the great seat of 'Sun-Horus of the Akhet'.
On the inner face of the enclosure wall, Thoth recites in the 'stretching the cord' ritual: "I came here in my true form upon the foundation ground of the 'Great Seat of Horus of the Akhet'. I cause its long dimension to be good, its breadth to be exact, all its measurements to be according to the norm, all its sanctuaries to be in the place where they should be, and its halls to resemble the sky."
In another ritual episode where the foundation of the Temple of 'Horus the Behdetite' (Hrw bHdt) is described, the temple was conceived as the Great Seat of 'Horus of the Akhet' (st-wrt Hrw Axt). The Builder Gods established the four sides (ifdw) of the 300 x 400 cubit enclosure called 'Speedy of Fashioning'.
Plato may have been influenced by late AE accounts of their beginnings - there is mention of an original island submerged by the primaeval waters after a 'fight'.
"....the Egyptians believed in the existence of two sacred worlds. Strictly speaking, the first sacred world is represented by a primaeval island which for various reasons was destroyed and disappeared. This island is described as being during the first period of its existence the Homeland of the Primaeval Ones and as the cultus-place of the Creator. With the re-emergence of the island attention is concentrated on the creation of new lands, called pay-lands, around and along the margins of the original island. These lands were the foundation grounds of the sacred domains, specifically of the domains of the successor of the Creator.. The second era of the primaeval age, therefore, is of importance for the development of the domains that survived in historical times."
