I've been inside G3b and viewed the cavity's walls...they certainly do not portray the efforts put into the chambers of the larger three and nothing as spectacular as the walls of many mastaba on site.
I believe it was G1b or perhaps G1c that Hawass entered several years ago...he found a damaged sarcophagus but no human remains from the IVth.
I agree with you; having read Edwards, Reisner, Hawass and crew...they are all pulling at straws in search for the truth, but nothing substantial yet. It also indicates many of these assumptions stemming from the tales of Herodotus...I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
I ask...How can an individual be associated with a pyramid without ancient written evidence to substantiate?
