"IIf you take all that for granted, then why on earth do you bring up pharaonic propaganda and the elections in the US?"
because I believe it's pertinent to the discussion. I most certainly was NOT being argumentative. In my opinion the role of the Pharoah as Physical Head of State was as important as his Divine role.
and to truly appreciate Royal funerary arrangements we have to take everything into account.
But you are correct to introduce the Magic into the whole question of tomb robbing.
It's one thing to rob the head of State..it's another entirely to desecrate a Divine Pharaoh's internment.
and to take it one step further..especially regarding teh 1st intermediary Period....I can appreciate a power group(family/nome/whatever) possibly disenfranchising a previous King through desecration, as a way reinforcing their own claim to ultimate power far more than the idea of robbery by a power group for the grave goods themselves.
but frankly I lean to most robberies being purely venal, and in light of the beliefs of the AE's as I understand them, those doing so would have had to be sociopaths.

the Magic to them was as real as the real world is to us.
