I have to disagree. They can't eat radishes that aren't grown and they can't harness oxen with rope that was used up building the pyramid. These were a drain on the economy and human resources. They didn't even used money whose increased velocity might improve the economy. They simply emptied the treasury and silos while wearing out the men if these served no real world function.
No, I'm not looking for an argument since even if they had a real world function they were definitely overbuilt for its exercise.
