Hi all ...

Just studying this temple and noted a few things ...

1) The red granite seems virtually not eroded at all and it appears to be the best preserverd (got that from a site) object on The Giza Plateau. Does anyone find this odd for the oldest to be the best preserved ?

2) I have not studied Egypt as much as some on this board but it appears to this untrained but keen eye that the only other building in all of Egypt that even approaches looking like this and in this state of good preservation is The Osirion. Image: [www.cropcircleconnector.com] Yet they are seperated according to Egyptologists by almost 1500 years. Question would appear to be why are these the only two strcutures in Egypt that seem to use these megalithic (un-eroded) blocks? To a casual observer it would appear that they were built by the same builder and probably at the same time although I am sure there is a logical explantaion ... And I thought I read somewhere that the base of Kharfe's pyramid also incorporated megalithic blocks ... Isn't this just a tad odd ? And didn't The Red Pryamid use these megalithic blocks as well ? Just curious why it is limited to these three structures (althought maybe I am missing some other obvious ones) ...

And finally this ...

... the valley temple was a gateway or portal to the whole complex, ...

Aw yes on this I can most certainly agree ... and so does the geometry. smiling smiley

The temple was laid out in almost a square ground plan. It is situated just next to the Great Sphinx and its associated temple. Not surprisingly, since the valley temple was a gateway or portal to the whole complex, it is very similar to the fore part of Khafre's mortuary temple. Its core wall was built of huge blocks that sometimes weighed as much as one hundred and fifty tons. This inner core was then covered by pink granite slabs, a material used extensively throughout the complex that was quarried near Aswan far to the south. This wall was slightly inclined and rounded at the top, making the whole structure appear somewhat like a mastaba tomb.
